cPanel Flash Tutorial: How to copy files?
This cPanel Flash Tutorial will show you how to copy files from one folder to another folder on your website using "File Manager" feature of cPanel. Copying files is very useful if you need multiple copies of the it in different locations or if you want to backup a file.
Steps
- Login to cPanel and click on "File Manager ".
- Click on the icon next to the folder (not on the folder name) to enter the folder and see a list of files in that folder. Usually all user created web folders and files are in the public_html directory on cPanel servers.
- Click on the name of the file you want to copy.
- Click on "Copy File" link in the top-right corner of the window.
- A list of folders will appear on the left hand side of the screen. Navigate to the folder into which you want to copy the file by clicking on the folder icons (not name).
- When you reach the required folder, click on the name (not icon) of the folder and the file will be copied into it. You will see a confirmation of the same in the top right corner of your screen.
Trying to copy a file into a folder where it already exists may cause an error. Further observe that the list of folders displayed begins with / and is not the list of sub-folders in your current folder.
